Welcome to the Mental Health Blog Party 2012! The American Psychological Association (APA) is promoting good mental health through the month of May.
Here are some tips for maintaining and improving your mental health.
1. Manage Your Lifestyle ~ Get 8-9 hours of sleep a night by practicing good sleep hygiene ~ Eat food low on the food chain and avoid fast food/processed food ~ Move every day and move often.
2. Cultivate Close Relationships ~ Spend time with friends and family who are smart, funny, and active.
3. Increase Positive Emotions ~ Express gratitude, take a walk outside, or smile.
However, if you still find yourself trudging through the day, help is available. Talk to a psychologist; the side effects are a better life! In Pennsylvania, you can find a psychologist in your area by visiting the Pennsylvania Psychological Association's Psychologist Locator.

Mental health is riddled with depression, anxiety and guilt. Dealing with feelings of guilt can be challenging, even overwhelming. Please check out the latest blog at frompanictopeace.com to find help and encouragement in dealing with this very human emotion.

Since 1949, May has been officially recognized as Mental Health Month. The focus for this year's awareness campaign is the mental health of young people.

I strongly agree with tip #1. A balanced lifestyle helps you avoid too much stress; since there is no such thing as a stress-free day. Too much stress can greatly affect how you enjoy your relationships, your work, and your life.
